I'm a teacher and student at heart. I believe that at any level of learning support and encouragement are always better than just do it because I say so. This is the reason I left a scholarship from Berklee in the 90's to pursue my true passion; touring the world as a professional musician. I started teaching piano and drums in church around the age of 18. Once I got to college, I picked up trombone, piano and singing lessons for various students aging from 4 years old-22 years old. I realized that teaching, part time, was a passion of mine and greatly became something that I focused my efforts on full time. I started drum lessons when I was 12. I started playing in hotels at 15 years of age with show bands and rock bands. I have played with high school bands at Carnegie Hall in New York and traveled to many places because of music. When I went off to graduate school my long time band mate went on the road as a professional musician. But I never stopped playing. It's my job as a teacher to facilitate a creative and challenging learning environment, but it's up to you, the student, to make the time we spend together something you would like to work on. It did not take long after I first began playing drums in the 4th grade to realize that this was something that I wanted to center my life around. I had the good fortune to attend college for music as well as study at Drummers Collective. I started teaching just after college at several local music stores.
