I have always enjoyed the art of teaching. I find it personally rewarding because when you effectively teach something to someone, you simultaneously learn something yourself. Speaking from experience with my current students, there are pleasant challenges in teaching, like discovering what works and what doesn't with a particular student. I love to see all my students develop a passion for drumming and music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and by teaching them the songs they love the most. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. For students who are children I like to start to start learning rhythms through common children’s songs to show how easy music can be. Depending on the instrument, one of the many Hal Leonard books is always a good option. If they are a little older, I will use music that they like to teach how music theory and fundamental skills makes up all the musi they enjoy. We will often learn songs that speak to them and I will use their favorite genres to curate new songs to teach and show them new material and how it relates to their instrument. Read More

I have always been into drum education. Ever since I was little I would watch drum educational DVD's and also took drum lessons which helped me become an inspired musician. I know love to give back and teach all levels and styles of drumming. I graduated from The University Of the Arts with a bachelors degree in Music Business, and Technology. Patience. I have taught children as young as 5 to adults nearing their 50's and the one universal approach I take with all of them is taking every day as a step forward. I am never aggressive with my students. I believe in pushing them to the next level but never through negativity.
