I started teaching private lessons my senior year in high school. Once I went to music school, i started to refine my teaching technique, and have been teaching privately for the past 25 years. Regularity and time management is key to my student's success. I like to draw on classical repertoire outside of the standard clarinet and saxophone repertoire to allow my students a well rounded classical experience. I tend to start beginning students with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements books, but if I find that the student either has previous experience or else progresses much faster than normal, I will move them to the Rubank Blue Book instead. Fundamentals are a critical element for learning any new instrument, and that includes playing scales. I'm a licensed teacher that enjoys sharing my passion for music. In December 2016, I graduated from Lipscomb University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education. Performing as part of Cedar Creek Community Band, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra Pit has given me a variety of experiences to inform my teaching.
