My method of teaching is based in the standard pedagogy of scales and chords(arpeggios). Those who are beginner and intermediate I usually start with the Rubank series of method books as well as easy to play popular tunes. For those who are at the advanced level I would teach out of the Baermann method book in addition to the Rose studies as well as Kroepsch, Jean-Jean, and Rode. I began teaching the clarinet in 2016 at Highland Park High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. 7 of my 8 students in 2016 placed in the TMEA Region Band, and another 2 went on to the 5A TMEA All-State Symphonic Band. In 2017, I had another student place in the 5A TMEA All-State Symphonic Band. I took up an additional job teaching at William B Travis TAG Academy in Dallas, where I taught beginners and 7th graders. I like to start beginning students with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books. When students move on to other materials, I draw upon their interests and the genre in which they are playing to find materials. I encourage classical students to listen to the repertoire so they can bring in pieces that they want to work on. I use a variety of method books with my jazz students, depending on the specific goals of the lesson, but I also place emphasis on ear training and transcription. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my high school years, 8 years ago, when I was a section leader for my marching band and I got to teach marching routines and lead sectionals for my section. Later, at my undergraduate degree, I got hired at three different middle and high schools to teach private lessons and give master classes.
