Hello! I'm a life-long cellist with solo, ensemble, and orchestral experience. I graduated from Indiana University in 2007 with majors in cello performance and journalism. Over the course of my musical career, I have performed with the Fairbanks Symphony Orchestra, the All-Northwest Orchestra, the Interlochen World Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Indiana University Orchestra, the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, and the Denver Philharmonic. I love seeing my students grow and make progress toward their goals. Every student is an individual and learns differently, so I strive to develop exercises and practice approaches that work for the particular student I'm working with. I always try to mix compliments and constructive criticism in my teaching. I encourage my students to record themselves throughout the week so that I can give feedback between lessons. Last year, one of my 2nd Grade Chicago Public School Band students performed the National Anthem for memory on the Alto Saxophone in front of 1000's of people at a race. One of my 1st Grade Violin Students impressed the president of Columbia College of Music so much that my students were offered life-time scholarships to attend Blues Kid's Camp, held annually at Columbia College in Chicago. One of my favorite parts about teaching is that oftentimes I learn just as much as the student in the teaching process. For beginner students, I start by working through Hal Leonard's Essential Elements book one for cello. After completing this book of fundamentals, I have the student work through Suzuki books 1-5. Alongside the Suzuki books, I also make sure the student has pieces they can learn for fun. Read More

I encourage students to set goals for each week and complete them. If your children want to learn the cello, I will use encouragement and play as a way to introduce music. Being a friend with them, introducing and getting to know the cello in this way is an important criterion for me. I hope everyone can learn the piano happily and enjoy the fun of playing the cello.
