I began teaching music in high school when I worked as an teacher's assistant during group piano classes. I started teaching private cello and piano lessons shortly thereafter and continued to do so through college. After graduation, teaching music truly became my passion. I've worked extensively with private students of all ages. I taught private lessons, group classes, and sectionals to students through several different school orchestra programs. I was brought up classically trained on the Suzuki books but I am completely flexible. If you have or have heard of a set of books you like we can use that too. If you don't know how to read music we can focus part of the lesson on music theory and the rest on learning from recordings and playing by ear. I started teaching privately in 2004, and have been doing so in either my own studio or in the studios of others ever since.. In 2013, I started contracting with the Anaheim City School District to teach string classes in their after-school music program. Since moving to Texas, I have started orchestra programs at two different schools in Dallas county, while continuing to build my own studio. For bass guitar I use the Mel Bay Bass Guitar Method which takes a student from creating rocking bass lines to building kicking bass licks from chord changes.Double Bass students will have classical training, techniques to build a solid, warm tone, use of the bow, and orchestral repertoire, including solo pieces. As a teacher, it is always rewarding to see students not only improved and made progress but also to see them being focused and enjoy playing music. It's helpful if a teacher can create an inspiring environment that encourages students to try different things and to look for more possibilities of playing music.
