I was assistant principal cellist of the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra for 15 years from 1987 to 2002. And I was an Assistant Professor of Music at the University of Mississippi in Oxford from 1988 and 1998. After 1998, I teach cello at the prestigious Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. I nwas also the Music Director and Conductor of the Mississippi Youth Symphony Orchestra for 9 years. I have taught cello consistently since 2014. I received pedagogical training from my cello teacher Regina Mushabac in 2014. This included taking on several students, some of whom stayed on with me until I left Ohio for California. While these students all came to me at various skill levels, I made sure to revisit with them the fundamentals of technique, posture, and basic knowledge of the instrument, including eliminating tension. In other words, I make sure the student's opinion is always taken in consideration to ensure that every goal set is within reason and that the student genuinely thinks it is realistic for them.
