I am a performer and educator based in Long Beach, CA. I received my Bachelor's of Music in Cello Performance at the Bob Cole Conservatory of 2021. I have been very passionate about teaching cello since I started in 2016. I have performed in several venues in Southern California as a soloist, as well as in orchestral and chamber ensembles. I have been playing cello for 20 or so years. I have studied at CSUN classical cello performance. I have been teaching for about 10 years. I have brought many students from complete beginners all the way up to concierto level playing. I have played for and with many very successful bands over the years including Chelsea Wolfe, No Age, Saint Motel, Tes Elations. Having the basic knowledge in music and techniques in playing are very important tools to have as a performer. I typically start with the Suzuki method for beginners and intermediates. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce a solo repertoire or other music pieces appropriate to the student’s interest. For young children I usually use the Suzuki method books for song selection and through those we can focus on the basic fundamentals of positioning and technical development. It is easy to see what needs to be addressed through those first few songs and we can go from there. For beginning students, I like to start with the beginnig Suzuki books, and I incorporate many Suzuki methods into my teaching style. As an accompaniment to Suzuki, I also use Klengal's Technical Studies for the Violoncello, Vol. 1 in order to solidify a solid understanding of scales and hand positions. Once a student demonstrates appropriate dexterity, I begin to introduce solo repetoire that they would like to prepare for studio performances and any other pieces that they have an interest in playing.
