I have been teaching music since 2005. I started as an in home music instructor, providing guitar, bass and piano lessons to people of all ages in their homes. As my teaching experience grew, I've added drums and ensemble/group lessons to my repertoire. I've also been hired as a bass and guitar instructor and curriculum director by a number of private music schools in and around the Boston area. My lessons focus on creating excitement and enthusiasm for the instrument through playing examples, live playing or "jamming" and encouraging the student to develop a consistent practice schedule. My goal, whether a student purse a career in music or not, is to aid development becoming not simply an instrumentalist, but a musician. Most humans are taught to recognize colors, why not sounds? I encourage improvisation, composition and study of the masters, but my priority is that it all be fun: I wouldn't hold myself to drudgery and certainly wouldn't expect that of a student. I graduated from the Berklee College of Music in 2011 with a Bachelor of Music degree in Electronic Production and Design. Following my graduation, I began working in the Boston area as a freelance session bassist and educator. In the last few years I've taught a drumming appreciation class as well as a gardening 101 class, both for ages 4-11 as part of Austins Camp Indigo. I want to foster a love and understanding of the instrument in my students.  Therefore, I always make sure to pace my lessons with each student according to them.  This means I set realistic goals for them and help guide them to accomplishing these goals themselves.  These accomplishments will help fuel the desire to progress, and make my students hungry for more.  By finding and encouraging the musical interests of my students, I can keep the lessons both fun and informative.
