Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. My curriculum is largely up to my student, I write custom excercises as well as reenforce musical notation through transcription of the student's favorite music. Being classically trained I place a heavy importance on technique and the physical attributes of playing string instruments. I try to go slow at first, focusing mostly on the instrument and how it works as well as how to take care of it. For instance, with guitar I teach them string names, how to change strings, what the different parts are (i.e. bridge, neck, tuners.)
