My philosophy is a student-first philosophy. I like to cultivate a curriculum around what my student is interested in learning about, whether that be music theory, improvisation, crafting chord progressions and solos, or learning specific songs. I come from a pop/jazz background, and love to work with students on learning songs they loveit keeps the lessons both engaging and educational. Students who are interested in pursuing music in some capacity, or those who wish to improve their chops: I am the teacher for you! Read More

My teaching method depends on what the student wants to learn, if they prefer to start learning songs first that is fine but I will still make sure to cover basic music principles in early lessons and incorporate them into the lessons. I need and expect my students to practice at least 15 minutes of per day, more if possible. This will enable me to not have to review previous lessons too much and we can move through more material quicker. Read More

I believe that effective instruction has a “rhythm” of its own that takes place as a result of the alternation of doing and thinking, and that good teaching of anything begins with what the students already know, or have the ability to do, and ends with what we want them to know, or be able to do. One of my favorite things about teaching is finding ways for my students to learn without them realizing it, and being able to connect the content to my students in meaningful ways. Read More
