ABOUT
Degrees / Training / Special Info:

BA, Rider University, Music

Awards:

2007- Medal in Music Performance, Orchestra

2007-Performed at The Lincoln Center, NYC

Overview:
I started playing trumpet in grade school and was in the marching band the first year of high school. I then switched to playing upright bass in the orchestra. This led to me being a part of the jazz band and playing instrumentals for school musicals. Upon graduation time, I received the gold medal for music performance in strings. I was also an AP music theory student. After, I pursued a bachelor's degree in music and took education courses. I have tutored music theory and given instrument lessons, but they were always self employed or from the university. I wish to help others make music an enjoying part of their lives, as it is in mine.
EXPERIENCE
I started student teaching during a music mentor's program in high school, ranging from grades 6-12. While attending college, I tutored music theory and student taught most subjects K-8. I thoroughly enjoy teaching and all aspects of it. It's very rewarding for me to share my knowledge and grow together with my students.
METHODS USED
Learning and development sees growth when you push your limits and go out of your comfort zone. I get a feel for the student's abilities and develop a course of action from that. All of my lesson plans are personalized but still use a structured method of progression.
LESSON STYLE
I'm very easy going and use a sort of scaffolding technique. There are basics and foundations to learn but I always cater to the student's interest while also suggesting new things.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
