Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. When it comes to my approach, I usually structure my lessons around each student's personal goal. The main book I teach out of are the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books. While I still use others, these are the most reliable and consistent when it comes to teaching. From there, I also include songs that are based around the style and technique that the student is trying to achieve. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. For Children and Young Adults, I like to recommend Jerry Snyder's Guitar School Book 1. If the student is a young adult or older, and has an interest in classical guitar, I recommend Scott Tenant's Pumping Nylon, Book 1. Overtime, I will begin to provide or suggest repertoire to learn. The great thing about Classical music, is most beginner to advanced repertoire is free and available in just a few clicks.
