Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I began playing in the seventh grade, and was all-state by the tenth grade. My Bachelor's of Music Ed, and my Master's of Music in Performance are from LSU-Monroe where I was principle in both band and orchestra, and lead trombone in the jazz ensemble. When it comes to my approach, I usually structure my lessons around each student's personal goal. The main book I teach out of are the Hal Leonard's Essential Elements books. While I still use others, these are the most reliable and consistent when it comes to teaching. From there, I also include songs that are based around the style and technique that the student is trying to achieve. Once the student can finish a musical piece, I always encourage them to play a show or recital. Read More

Listening to the goals or having the student create goals is a very important first step towards a successful student. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. I am a kind and understanding teacher, pressuring students to reach goals on a time line isn't something that I feel would be productive. Creative teaching and exploring the entire musical world is a life long journey, so no need to rush it, but learning the tools to navigate your way through is something that can be invaluable. For Children and Young Adults, I like to recommend Jerry Snyder's Guitar School Book 1. If the student is a young adult or older, and has an interest in classical guitar, I recommend Scott Tenant's Pumping Nylon, Book 1. Overtime, I will begin to provide or suggest repertoire to learn. The great thing about Classical music, is most beginner to advanced repertoire is free and available in just a few clicks.
