Overview:

I am classical guitarist originating from Venezuela who has had many years of both teaching and performance experience. In, 2015 I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Stetson University, under the direction of Dr. Stephen Robinson. Since then, I attained my Masters at the Florida state University under 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award in Music's recipient, Bruce Holzman. I am currently residing in Georgia where I am pursuing my Artist Diploma at Columbus State University, studying under the great Dr. Andrew Zohn. Although the path was difficult, music has given me experiences I consistently feel both grateful and privileged to have. I have achieved personal growth and intellectual development, both because of my passion for music, and have gained a lifetime network of meaningful relationships and partnerships. Living a life in such a rigorous yet rewarding field has taught me that fulfillment and inspiration are possible if one truly loves and works for what they do, and I aim to pass that inspiration along to those who give me a chance.

EXPERIENCE

I first began teaching during my senior year in high school. Being in Marching band and excelling in classical guitar, both my peers and my teachers asked of me to provide some assistance. This led for me to teach as a tech during the Summer of 2011 and 2012's marching band season. After this I started to teach professionally.

From 2013-2015, I worked at the Community School in Deland, FL while I pursued my Bachelors at Stetson University. I also began to teach privately here. In, 2015, I focused more on my performance goals while at the Florida State University, but I still taught privately. Through self reflection, it was here where I realized I also had a knack and particular patience for teaching. Since I started music later than most, I have acquired a particular sense of efficiency and conscientiousness when teaching. I am aware of the hardships in learning something, so I aim to teach in a clear, yet patient way. Motivation usually comes from achievement. If a student does not feel like they are succeeding, then they will stop wanting to get better, especially during the early stages. I am always looking for ways to make any student, no matter the age, feel like they too can learn anything.

METHODS USED

For Children and Young Adults, I like to recommend Jerry Snyder's Guitar School Book 1. If the student is a young adult or older, and has an interest in classical guitar, I recommend Scott Tenant's Pumping Nylon, Book 1. Overtime, I will begin to provide or suggest repertoire to learn. The great thing about Classical music, is most beginner to advanced repertoire is free and available in just a few clicks. Same goes for other styles, as they tend to include tableture, which I am also proficient in teaching.

LESSON STYLE

I like to believe I am very perceptive. Therefore, my first lesson is always about getting to know my student, or at least as much as they let me. Picking up habits in the beginning is a good way to know how to best teach and have a strong professional teacher-student relationship. Over time I can get a sense of what to say and when to say it. I have always believed that treating your student see you as a guide, or pedagogue than a teacher breaks any personal barrier much faster, and therefore both the student and I will communicate better.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
