I believe in age appropriate techniques and repertoire, and use both warm-ups and vocalises, along with accessible repertoire to foster technique and give students the tools they need to think through a song on their own. I follow standard Bel Canto technique for all of my students, then teach modifications for each style. My teaching experiences started when I was in college, a fellow classmate of mine needed help with some of her younger students and the world of music education opened up to me from there. It is important to me that I provide a warm, comfortable environment for all my students. I strive to meet the student where they are, set goals, and make plans to achieve them. Voice in particular is a difficult thing to learn, since the mechanisms are internal and difficult to see as well as hard to control directly. Since I teach people of all ages, I have learned that I cannot simply follow one type of lesson structure.  During my lessons I learn about not just the talent a person has but also about the person themselves.  Therefore, each lesson plan is tailored specific to that individual.
