Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.

I try to cater my lessons to the individual needs and desire of my students and try to asses the level of knowledge and provide feedback and advice as to how to best move forward. I usually work with Mel Bay or Hal Leonard books and try to provide them with a general broad base forms of musical exercises designed to assist the student gain proper technique and become proficient in the his or her instrument of choice. I teach out of a few method books when it comes to percussion. Vocals is more of a discovery process while utilizing some neat exercises to build vocal chord strength. With a drummers they can learn multiple ways to do the same application, while a vocal student only has their one voice to work with. I always teach fundamentals, and will focus a lot on it depending on the students needs, to help them achieve a goal they have set out to achieve. Read More

For beginning students, whether they are children or adults, I typically start with an introduction to main vocabulary words that will be used often during classes and a lesson in diaphragmatic breathing for singing. My classes are always tailored to each individual student, so on day one I like to spend a few minutes allowing my students to open up and tell me about their personal music goals, what drives their passion, who they look up to vocally, and what styles they would be most interested to hone in on. I try to meet every student at their level. I mold my lessons to the student's aspirations and goals. If a student is only taking lessons for fun, then the repertoire we choose can be very flexible. If they are trying to get into college or to audition for a program, we will choose repertoire together that is appropriate and puts them in the best light. For the more advanced, I will start with a few warm-ups, and breath exercises before singing a short song (happy birthday, and/or prepared piece) before determining vocal range and repertoire. For clarinet beginners, I typically start with the "David Hite" methods book, and the "Big and Beautiful" technique outlined in "Squeak Big". I teach them to build a strong sound from open G and never leave a lesson until they can play a recognizable tune as they are learning the beginning concepts of breathing and technique. Read More
