I am teaching the students by wide range from beginners to most advanced. I use Suzuki method combined with traditional teaching materials and traditional teaching methods for advanced students. For younger students, I mainly use Suzuki teaching method, combined with etudes, like Alwin Schroeder's 170 Foundation Studies. Teaching all age group students with scales as well. I started teaching in high school. At Santa Monica High School, we had a huge music program. With 6 orchestras in making up the music program, I was placed in the orchestra made up of the most advanced players. I volunteered my time every week at the request of our orchestra director to giving lessons to students placed in the beginning and intermediate orchestras. I have taught beginning violin using many different methods and books, including but not limited to the Suzuki Method, Essential Elements for Strings, and All For Strings books. However, I have found that the best way to engage students and maintain progress is not to keep too strictly to any one method, but to find what best suits each individual.
