Instruments: Violin

Teaching and performing violin are two of my most favorite ways to occupy my time, only after spending time with and taking care of my family. I stand firmly behind my belief that the best teachers are performers as well. Not only do I have two perfromance degrees, Suzuki training, and 8 years of teaching experience, but I have been a professional performer and gig musician for the past 10 years. My own teachers always inspired me with their high levels of playing and music as a profession expertise. Read More

Instruments: Violin

For beginner students who are children, I usually start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I will introduce solo repertoire suited for his or her first recital performance. I introduce etudes to the students after the student demonstrates the ability to play several simple pieces well. For intermediate and advanced students, I typically do not let them play a piece at a certain grade level until they have finished playing one piece one grade level below that. Read More

Instruments: Violin

My name is Victoria S. I am very passionate about teaching violin. I am a certified Suzuki book teacher which is the method I use to teach. I have played violin for over 10 years and I love working with kids and making violin special to them. I took lessons until I was 16ish at EMU preparatory music program. I was always taught the Suzuki method which is a very good teaching method for many instruments because they teach notes later on and we play by ear at first. Read More

I use Suzuki, Kayser, Hohmann, the Third Position, etc. and various concertos for advanced students. Instruments: Violin, Viola

I try to cater to the each student's particular needs. For beginning students that are children I typically start with the Essential Elements Strings Book 1 in combination with Suzuki first book. As every student progresses at a different pace, I adjust my teaching curriculum accordingly. Having that in mind, I decide on the next step, usually some solo repertoire, as well as some more etudes and scales.  For adults, I tend to go with what they are particularly interested in, as well as incorporating learning basic music reading and playing skills.
