I introduce solos from a variety of sources progressively that complement what is being learned. I try to integrate scales, etudes, and solos for maximum understanding and match the assignments to specific interests and technical needs. I have been playing viola for seven years and violin for nine years. I have worked with students that are in middle school up to high school. In high school, I played with the Kalamazoo Junior Symphony Orchestra in Michigan. Then I played with the Saint Mary's College String ensemble and the Notre Dame Symphony Orchestra, and went on tour with the NDSO, for a year. I started violin lessons at age 7, after 2 years of begging my mom! I can still remember that blustery Saturday morning in November when I had my first lesson, and since then, I have learned so much. I joined the studio orchestra after just a year of lessons, then began teacher training and luthier (violin repair) classes in high school.
