I use a variety of methods and techniques. I have training in the Suzuki Method, as well as more traditional methods of violin instruction. In my lessons knowing scales and arpeggios will be important. I also teach about keys and time signatures early on. For students who are already in an instrumental program through school, I will start with whatever method book they are using at school, and branch off from there. Depending on the instrument, I will bring in another method book specific to that instrument book and we will also use some sort of etude book. I move at a very quick pace, but I have my students set their own goals. While I will select the literature for the student, I want them to feel successful when they are working with me. I want students to be confident and successful, so I will do anything in my power to help them learn good technique and practice habits.
