I have played the violin since I was 8 years old in school orchestras and small ensembles. I have also learned Irish traditional music in Ireland, from the Irish in music sessions and in more formal school settings. I spent 9 months there obtaining a Masters in Ethnomusicology. While I don't subscribe to any particular method I do believe there is a best order to learning. After graduation from conservatory I worked full time in the State Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine for 10 years and then another 8 years in national Kiev Opera and Ballet Theater. What’s important is to strike a balance of activities that works for the student, engaging their desire to learn while giving them the structure necessary for success.
