I graduated from the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts (SOTA) where I studied instrumental music. SOTA is an arts magnet high school that performs at a pre-professional level. I am a currently attending SJSU for my Music Education degree. My main instrument is trombone, but I also teach beginning piano among other instruments. I love teaching, and I enjoy seeing my students learn and grown in their love and passion for music. I also currently teach at various schools around South San Jose. I have also worked with a contemporary community music school in San Diego with a "Rock" Focus, working with elementary and middle school drummers, vocalists, guitarists and pianists to form their own bands.Currently, in addition to teaching privately, I am an Arts Department Substitute Teacher for La Jolla Country Day School, working with both their band and orchestra programs in the Lower, Middle, and Upper Schools. To me it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. I use a lot of play along material and I show and play for the student a lot of playing techniques and riffs for examples and what is possible and how to progress. Read More

I am an experienced trombonist and teacher with degrees from the New England Conservatory and California State University at East Bay (MA in Music anticipated Fall 2020). I have been teaching since the 1990s, and performing all over the world since the early 2000s. My primary instrument is on trombone, but have had students on tuba, euphonium, and beginning trumpet as well. My performance experience is primarily in the jazz, pop, and rock genres, but am conservatory-trained and well-equipped to prepare young students to enter the classical world as well. Read More
