I'm trying to put each student in touch with their inner creative. Everyone learns at a different pace and my approach is to teach something to mastery level rather than fill a quota. I like to say that while I have a very methodical and systematic approach to teaching that I am also relaxed and laid back. I never want my students to fear their lesson. While I expect progress for the serious student I also fully recognize the limitations and conflicts of "life getting in the way". I am a big proponent of giving compliments whenever possible. In the past 14 years, I have taught every level of music education from age 1 to 22, and I have experienced teaching in many different scenarios including preschool music time, elementary chorus and general music, indoor percussion, and concert, wind, and marching bands. My I love to see and hear my students make strides in a positive direction through practicing their music, and with my help, enjoying every moment of it! My teaching experience dates back to high school. I was a student leader in the marching band, serving as the woodwind captain for the marching band and the senior student conductor for the concert bands. With these positions, I was able to tutor peers and work on expanding my knowledge of teaching music.
