Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.
lessons are available in the following areas:

I start with the basics and work my way up. No matter the learning speed, I will go at the student's pace. I will first learn the musical interests of the student so that we can learn what they love as well as introduce them to new and unfamiliar styles. My methods also vary from student to student depending on what the student is interested in learning. My lessons are based on the student's desire to learn. Read More
Instruments: Guitar, Trumpet, Trombone, Ukulele
Most teachers use a Hal Leonard beginning book. Essential Elements (EE) is popular, as well as Accent on Achievement. I'll be using EE for beginners. I drill ear training, and will have the student memorize simple songs to beginning not only increasing their repertoire, but a fun way of practicing scales. Depending on the level, there are different books that are appropriate, however I focus on the fundamentals with each student and add on. Read More
Instruments: Voice, Trumpet, Ukulele, Recorder, French Horn, Orchestral Percussion, Music, Acoustic Guitar
My teaching practices include "say it, sing it, move it, play it" - in simple terms. This technique of hearing and feeling the music before we play or sing will help students learn to better visualize or audiate the music before performance. I often have my students sight-read to stretch their rhythm reading skills, and I give rhythm exercises for practice and warm-ups. If you are part of a school band program, we will work in your method book of choice. Read More
Instruments: Piano, Trumpet, Saxophone, Drums, Orchestral Percussion, Latin Percussion, Music, Djembe
I create my own lesson plans (and some materials) specific to each student. Some standard books I use are Alfred's Drum Method book 1, The New Breed, Portraits in Rhythm, The Drummer's Complete Vocabulary to name a few. The books are necessary for developing music literacy, however I remind students that the pages don't make sound!!! Developing a discerning ear is paramount in my approach. Therefore we do a lot of listening and I engage students in dialogue for them to develop a personalized mental image of what they are trying to play. Read More
Instruments: Piano, Voice, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Organ, Recorder, Oboe, English Horn, Keyboard
I enjoy teaching all ages from the very beginning student to the more advanced students and can adapt my teaching methods accordingly. I feel each student learns differently and that we are all individuals with different personalities and learning styles. I enjoy the challenges of creating and implementing various teaching techniques so as to accommodate their individuality and so each student will become successful at mastering their instrument. I feel music is an expressive art and students learn and perform better in a relaxed, but structured atmosphere. Read More
