My methodological procedures are determined solely on the level of the student and their performance ability. Oftentimes I tailor lessons that ive created in my past to create lesson plans for individual students. I oftentimes use action research methods in helping me determine whether or not the teaching method that is being used in the lesson is effective for the student receiving lessons. I have over 17 years of experience teaching Band Choir on every level from Elementary to College . Prior to my appointment at Coppin State University, I taught High school for 14 years, Elementary and Middles school for 4 through out the state of Maryland. Among a host of my awards and accolades, I will always consider my students accomplishments as my greatest reward as an educator. I taught my first lesson at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, and I immediately I was drawn into teaching by the level of enthusiasm, open-mindedness, and desire to improve shown by the student. This student made rapid progress each week, and eventually was offered to go on an international tour with Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp the following year. I continued teaching when I attended the Manhattan School of Music as a graduate student, tutoring undergraduate students there, and once again I was drawn into the rapid progress and enthusiasm of each of the students tutored.
