I believe it is important that beginning students who do not know how to read music yet stay out of the books at first. Reading music and trying to hold the instrument correctly, having bow control, and paying attention to tone can be overwhelming. The first few lessons will be book free. I am a Taiwanese American violinist and I grew up in Boston. I started playing piano when I was 5 and then the violin at age 8. I enjoys teaching students of all ages and encourages early beginners! As an avid life long learner, I attend as many Suzuki teacher trainer courses as possible, and I love the Starling Delay Symposium as a resource for my own playing and for teaching students. I am an instructor that have great passion for teaching, and believes that everyone should have the chance to learn an instrument, no matter the age. I started playing the Violin in 2004, Viola in 2009 and Piano in 2011. I graduated with a Bachelor in Music Performance specializing in Violin in 2015 from Barry University in Miami Shores. During my time, I have performed and held performances with musicians from many different orchestras based in Atlanta and South Florida, including learning from members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and performances with the South Florida Symphony Orchestra. I like to show students first, visually and audibly, how a piece or an excerpt goes that way they can begin to learn it already knowing a basis. I try to let students play through their pieces as much as they can so they can become adjusted playing through an entire piece and not just small segments. Of course, I will let you know which notes are needed to be fixed and timing issues as well so they when you play through again you think about those specific things and try to correct them. Since, I have been writing/gigging/and recording with my own band called Northern Nightingale and playing with various artists in the Nashville area.
