As a violinist of 15 years, I love sharing my love of music with others, whether they may be my students, friends, or even acquaintances. Over the years of playing violin, I have learned from university professors, professional orchestral members, nationally renowned conductors, as well as Julliard graduates. I am originally from upstate New York and earned both my BM and MME at SUNY Fredonia. I have been teaching private and small group lessons for over twenty years. I also have extensive experience teaching ensemble music in public and private schools in Buffalo (NY), Houston, Madrid, Spain and Chicago. I have also worked as an Adjunct Professor at SUNY Fredonia, Roosevelt University, and Lake Forest College. I am a performer and educator who is passionate about instilling a life-long love of music in my students! I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in commercial violin performance from Belmont University in 2021. Since, I have been writing/gigging/and recording with my own band called Northern Nightingale and playing with various artists in the Nashville area. Teaching strategies and experience ranges differently from each instructor. For beginners, such as children, I would start with the book series 'Essential Elements'. From experience, Leonard provides the most thorough book to grasp the ability to learn violin. Scale practice and listening sessions would also be a consideration for children as repetition is best to help the younger audience learn such an intricate instrument. As for older students, say teens and adults, I would say depending on the student themselves, I am very malleable to understand what the student wants out of 'music lessons'. Read More
