I have been professionally teaching music since my college days, as an music instructor for a community group at the Neenah Public Library and locally at San Juan College through the Community Learning Center, both in person and online. These environments allowed me to work with a wide range of students simultaneously, from elementary school age to retirees. In 2012, I created the Jazz Trombone Workshop geared for high school tenor and bass trombone players who are wanting to learn more about the art of jazz trombone. In the inaugural year, Grammy Award winning trombonist Mark Gonzales of the band Grupo Fantasma was guest clinician at the workshop. Composing and arranging is a passion I have in addition to teaching. In 2013 and 2016, TJEA selected a jazz etude I had written to be used in the Texas All-Region/State auditions throughout the state of Texas. Read More

I am and have been a passionate musical person. The moment I went into 6th grade and got the clarinet as my instrument, that was all I could focus on, and here we are. I am on my last year of my undergrad music education degree, at Texas AM University Kingsville. Teaching is something I am very passionate about. I started on a cornet bequeathed to me by a friend of my father's, with a beginner's book, playing in my closet at 8 years old. I was given a trombone by a friend of my sister's at 11 years old, and subsequently became a trombonist. I had one initial lesson, with a saxophonist, who taught me to play the notes F and G. I became a professional trombonist at the age of 19 and didn't go to college for music until I was 27, where I immersed myself in study with professionals for 4 years. Read More
