As a teacher, my goal is to assist each student in finding their own creative voice and guide them through the process of learning to express themselves through music. I started playing acoustic folk styles in 1962 and added 60's rock and more as time went on. I joined my first rock band in 1965 and have now played all styles of rock, blues, folk, country, bluegrass, jazz, and contemporary Christian and worship music. I also play and teach bass and other stringed fretted instruments, keyboards, and drums and percussion. I put an emphasis on proper buzzing techniques for new trumpet students as well as the right warm-up exercises. On any instrument I teach, I will stress the importance of knowing all your scales. This is very important for any instrument you may want to learn. For students who already know all major scales, I would move on to minor scales. I accomodate to anyones learning habits. For young kids i find what songs tey love most and provide teaching through those songs, its incredible how fast they learn that way. Usually use books like essential elements or begginers guide.
