My methods really depend on the level of the student. For beginners, I tend to stick to basics by teaching them chords, scales, and basic music theory; by using music that they would like to learn how to play. I began teaching private lessons in Chicago in 2002, while in an Educational Administration Masters Program at DePaul University. I began teaching music at the age of 15, primarily guitar and piano lessons for beginners ages 7-14 in my hometown of Parker, CO. At 16 I began teaching my students basic music theory and intermediate instrumental instruction. I moved to Boston in 2012 to pursue an undergraduate degree in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music in Boston, still actively teaching throughout my curriculum. To me there is nothing is more satisfying than seeing my students develop a passion for music! While playing music itself is quite enjoyable, it is absolutely essential that each student progresses at their own pace.
