Instruments: Drums, Accordion, Mallet Percussion, Orchestral Percussion

With beginning students, the lessons will start with building fundamentals, strong practice habits, musicality and finding the meaning to why they are learning music. The goal behind my lessons is to form strong mature musicians that not only use their knowledge of music to better their playing, but to better themselves. After teaching myself theory at the age of 4, I received my first musical instruction in 6th grade. At that time I learned to play the flute. This is where my musicianship began to blossom and opportunities were sent my way. Thanks to my love and dedication, I was one of a few placed in special bands. Auditioning & being selected for choruses during this time increased as well. As a result of my hard work, I was offered & accepted the positions at section leader and Drum Majorette in my high school's concert and marching bands & after joining choir my junior year I became lead soloist of the choir. Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Drums, Organ, Synthesizer, Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

I work on a lesson to lesson basis, building upon the previous lesson, gradually adding new and exciting things into the mix, and finally throwing it all together and seeing what needs to be improved upon. I usually begin with some basic theory and then show various techniques from popular works and how this can be applied to original compositions. I also like to employ ear training exercises and sight reading exercises to help with the intellectual side of music and to help any current students in a “band” or Music scholastic program. Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Saxophone, Drums, Bass Guitar, Music, Keyboard, Electric Guitar, Acoustic Guitar

In my career as a teacher as well as in my personal life I have found that it is impossible to teach all people the same and expect the same results. Thus, my methods are highly tailored to the student's unique needs and desires. Additionally, I've found that certain teaching methods work better with certain instruments. One of the first questions I ever as of a student is what their goals are for these lessons so I might better adjust my lessons to suit. Read More
