I am a working musician, traveling singer-songwriter, and long-time educator. While at school I focused my education on music and the music industry and building my career as a singer-songwriter. As much as I love to create and share my own music I'm also passionate about teaching others to do the same. I've taught lessons throughout college covering a range of instruments and ages. During my high school days, I also served as a student teacher for local summer band camps as a percussion and drum set instructor. One of the most important things I strive for is to have my students keep a consistent practice schedule and have fun playing the drums so that they can maintain interest in learning more music styles and be prepared for various musical occasions. I don't believe in a one size fits all mentality for music education, I've often seen this approach derail students from enjoying the process and eventually terminating their relationship with music overall. Students are a case-by-case basis, and in that regard, each lesson is catered to the students actual goals and interests. I believe in training our ears and our sense of rhythm to a point where the student can figure things out and make artistic decisions on their own and use lessons, less as a tutorial, but as a source of inspiration to pursue the things that brought them here in the first place. In 2017, I graduated from Missouri State University with a BME (Bachelor of Music Education) with an emphasis in percussion. Throughout my time in my undergrad, I have been a part of renowned groups such as Dr. Belva Prather Wind Ensemble and Mr. Jerry Hoovers Pride Band organization. Other groups I have performed with include world famous Michael Burritt in his ensemble in 2015 Missouri Day of Percussion. I currently teach at Parkview high school in Springfield, MO and have spent three years with the group. Read More
