After teaching myself theory at the age of 4, I received my first musical instruction in 6th grade. At that time I learned to play the flute. This is where my musicianship began to blossom and opportunities were sent my way. Thanks to my love and dedication, I was one of a few placed in special bands. Auditioning & being selected for choruses during this time increased as well. As a result of my hard work, I was offered & accepted the positions at section leader and Drum Majorette in my high school's concert and marching bands & after joining choir my junior year I became lead soloist of the choir. I am a working musician, traveling singer-songwriter, and long-time educator. While at school I focused my education on music and the music industry and building my career as a singer-songwriter. As much as I love to create and share my own music I'm also passionate about teaching others to do the same. I've taught lessons throughout college covering a range of instruments and ages. In 2017, I graduated from Missouri State University with a BME (Bachelor of Music Education) with an emphasis in percussion. Throughout my time in my undergrad, I have been a part of renowned groups such as Dr. Belva Prather Wind Ensemble and Mr. Jerry Hoovers Pride Band organization. Other groups I have performed with include world famous Michael Burritt in his ensemble in 2015 Missouri Day of Percussion. With my beginning students, I would start them off with a method book that would teach them the basic fundamentals of playing the drum set. I have many books, and I recommend certain books based on what the student wants to learn. Once they master the fundamentals, I would introduce them to solos and charts for performance practice. For adults, I would base my lessons on their interests, keep my students engaged in their lessons, and have fun in the process. Read More
