Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I picked up teaching during my second year of college with some help from my mother- a long-time piano teacher. During that time I taught several different students ranging from age 6 to adult on various instruments including piano, guitar, and drums. I've experienced the different learning styles and barriers that come with teaching kids, teens, and adults. Additionally, I have experience teaching outside of the music realm having worked as an outdoor educator, camp counselor, and substitute teacher as well as various tutoring sessions throughout my school career. I work on a lesson to lesson basis, building upon the previous lesson, gradually adding new and exciting things into the mix, and finally throwing it all together and seeing what needs to be improved upon. I usually begin with some basic theory and then show various techniques from popular works and how this can be applied to original compositions. I also like to employ ear training exercises and sight reading exercises to help with the intellectual side of music and to help any current students in a “band” or Music scholastic program. GUITAR For beginner guitar students who are children, I will start working with them out of the Hal Leonard's Guitar Method books. As early as I can I want them to be able to play simple melodies of songs that they recognize so they can see that they can do this and it will just get more fun along the way!
