Instruments: Trumpet, Trombone, Clarinet

Your musical growth is the most important thing. I try not to talk too much at our lessons. Most of the time I will show you what to do, help you learn how to do it and then let you practice the new skill(s) all week for our next lesson. Consistent effort is the key, both for you and for me. You'll need to practice and I need to keep things comfortable, challenging and enjoyable for you. Read More

John B

Instruments: Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba

I do not have a beginning method book that I prefer, so I typically use a student's band method book for early lessons. For advanced students I prefer the Bordogni/Rochut etude book and the Blazhevich clef studies, along with a solo. I use scales with students of any level, and expect for students to eventually have all the major and minor scales memorized. Read More

Instruments: Piano, Trumpet, Trombone, Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, Drums, Piccolo

For beginning students, I generally start with the Accent on Achievment book series and spend the first few lessons assessing and addressing the important fundamentals of the students' particular instrument. After working out of the book for an apropriate amount of time, I introduce solo repertiore from both pop and classical genres. I want my students to learn, but I want them to have fun and enjoy what they are learning. Read More

James R

Instruments: Piano, Voice, Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, French Horn, Tuba

Depending on whether it be voice or instrumental my methods will differ slightly. For beginning voice students (-12) I teach out of a folk songs book, and if they choose, challenging disney repertoire which adds an element of fun, but also is educational. for Intermediate students (12-15) I use the same folk songs book but apply more advanced techniques on proper singing technique, then depending on their level, I might do more advanced repertoire which fits them. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
