I'm offering both violin and viola lessons to all ages and levels, with an open-minded personal approach tailored to each student's individual interests, needs, and goals. I have a calm and patient personality and I will do my best to make sure that the student understands what and why they are asked to do a certain thing. I have experience teaching all ages, from 5th grade to 55+, and I find it the most rewarding when my students work hard, improve, and achieve their goals. I urge my students to practice regularly on a consistent schedule; improvement is dependent on this, but I also encourage them to explore. I foster learning more about the music and the people who make their favorite music great, and to seek and discover what they can do on/with the instrument. Read More

While I do like to use method books and curriculum such as Hal Leonard's Essential Elements for Strings and Alfred's Basic Adult Piano Course, I also recognize that every student is unique. That's why I work hard to get to know each of my students and figure out what their strengths and needs are. I had a wonderful opportunity to perform live in Carnegie Hall, New York City, on live television, primetime on ABC, CBS, and NBC networks at age 15! Performing internationally with touring groups as a teen and as an adult has brought me many joys, meeting great musicians, making beautiful music, and wonderful memories. I'm currently a graduate assistant at UGA. I am principal violist of the University of Georgia Symphony Orchestra and violist of the Hodgson String Trio. I am also an orchestral instructor for the UGA String Project. I have performed in several orchestras in the southeast United States including the Bryan Symphony, Owensboro Philarmonic, Augusta Symphony, Oak Ridge Symphony, and Albany Symphony Orchestras.
