I began teaching private lessons four years ago, and have always desired to teach more students and share my love of music with them. It is important to me to know what my students' goals are so that I can tailor my instruction to meet their needs. I have been a music teacher since 1972, teaching classroom music, as well as being a Choir and Band Director, in Vernon, Glastonbury and West Hartford. Especially popular were my guitar and music of the theater classes. I have also directed various musicals on the Middle School level, such as You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, Fiddler on the Roof, Babes in Arms, Oliver and others. I am a fun, motivational and passionate teacher who loves working to help the next generation of musicians become the type of musician that they want to be. I play and teach all types of music and while in undergrad at Oberlin I created a major within the conservatory where I combined the classical and jazz degrees together to be able to learn many different genres of music. I am graduated with my Bachelor of Music in Music Performance at The Pennsylvania State University studying with distinguished professor Velvet Brown. I am currently pursuing a Master of Music in Music Performance studying with Professor Lance LaDuke. I play euphonium, trombone, tuba and piano and can teach all four. I currently have 10+ years of teaching and playing. I have many ensemble experiences including 3 time Connecticut All-State Concert Band, 1 time NAfME All-National Concert Band, 1 time NAfME All-Eastern Concert Band, orchestral experience both in youth ensembles and at Penn State, Concert band experience at Penn State, and chamber ensemble experience in tuba/euphonium quartets and brass quintets.
