When I think about a student learning wintry to put myself in there shoes. They want to feel like they have something to show for the time that they were the class session. . if we have an hour session and at the end of the session they can go out and show off what they learned then they will. It be as motivated to come back.... I thoroughly enjoy customizing each student's lesson according to their learning ability and make sure they excel and have fun. I utilize most of the time the Alfred Piano method both for school age and adults. When I feel the student is ready I supplement quite a lot with the Hanon exercises,Czerny and the Master Theory workbook(this works very well with the student who also desires to learn to play by ear as well.) For repertoire I emphasize classical pieces and also help the student with pop and holiday pieces;i.e- Schumann's Album for the Young, Beginning Bach minuets,Bach and Clementi sonatinas,etc. Read More

Im a passionate teacher and professional multi-instrumentalist. I graduated with a Bachelor in Violin Performance from Appalachian State University in 2012 and have since performed classically with orchestras in eastern Tennessee and across North Carolina as well as with a professional wedding ensemble. Im also active within the Asheville music scene as a bluegrass/folk/Americana musician with two projects, Old Sap and The Jackson Grimm band. Practice is important, but smart practice is essential. I help the student to practice efficiently without wasting time or energy. Smart practice also means to get results and achieve goals quickly. Technique is tremendously important in order to execute the music. Classical music is the fundamental and first step a student needs to take in order to learn and perform music properly. If his/her interest is popular music or jazz, I aim to give the student a classical assignment as well as an assignment in these genres. Read More
