Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Our music teachers understand that every student has different needs and abilities and therefore the lessons will be planned with that knowledge in mind.
lessons are available in the following areas:
Instruments: Piano, Mallet Percussion, Orchestral Percussion, Keyboard, Djembe
I tailor each lesson plan to each individual student's wants and needs. I like to start with having a mutual understanding of the student's goals, desires, and expectations. If a student does not have any concrete goals, I can help them narrow their interests down so that we both have a clear direction in mind. For example, a student's goal could be to work on music for their band class, to prepare for a college audition, to learn a new style, to become more comfortable with a particular grip, to learn specific works of music, or simply to become better acquainted with percussion instruments as a whole. I believe my role as a teacher is to help students improve their musical abilities in a holistic manner. This means in addition to talking about technique, we will discuss theory and history related to the instrument and repertoire (depending on level of the student) as well as healthy and productive practice habits. I will help students to set realistic weekly goals so each student is improving consistently and feeling satisfied with his/her accomplishments each week. Read More

I believe that music students are not "one size fits all", so I create an individual approach catered to each student's strengths, weaknesses, and interests. For beginners, I typically start with the very basics such as putting the instrument together(if applicable), posture/form, and fingerings. Then, I will cater my teaching materials to the student and their situation, which sometimes means the majority of their work is print materials. Read More
Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Trumpet, Acoustic Guitar
For beginning students I typically start with sound development and articulation for the brass instruments starting with armband studies and schlosburg studies. For the intermediate students I work on Clark studies and intersperse getchel etudes for artistic development. Advanced students work on major recital works for brass that help their development for performance. Guitar students learn chordal techniques with rythem patterns and a blend of classical playing finger picking for individual technique for fingers. Read More
