I have been involved with music since middle school, where I participated in marching band. I continued in marching band up to my junior year of college. In high school I began working with my church's worship team, first as a percussionist, then as an acoustic guitarist. I began training in basic music theory at this time as well. For my younger students, i would start with the simple lullabies like ABC's and Row Your Boat to get them familiar with the instrument and getting them used to playing what they want to hear. Then we'd move on to Hal Leonard's fundamental books to develop reading skills. I hold a Bachelor of Music degree in flute performance from UC Santa Barbara, and a Master of Music degree in flute performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music at CSU Long Beach. Bass and guitar are both physical instruments in their own way, and getting acclimated to the feel of it is key to having success on it.
