I taught my first trombone lessons when I was still in high school, and I've always felt a strong connection to teaching (my parents are teachers too). When I was getting my masters, I began teaching beginning brass classes at local elementary schools, and this expanded into several elementary band classes upon graduation. I began teaching private lessons at age 18 while completing my bachelor's degree , I began teaching at the Yamaha School of Music in Toronto. I encourage my students to practice and do the homework, but what is truly important also is that they enjoy and feel the love for learning music. I started teaching 1st graders about basic music concepts at the local elementary school when I was in 7th grade. Once I got to high school and I started to get serious about music, I began teaching private lessons to middle school and other high school students. By the time I was in college, I was capable of teaching lessons to students of any age or skill level.
