I have had experiences in tutoring, college group-studies, and leading sectionals in high school band as well as rehearsing church choir where I had the chance to interact with different age-groups ranging from children in elementary school to adults older than my own parents where I tried to determine ways to improve my understanding of teaching and cultivating efficient methods through reflections and advice. During my undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Louisville, I have led sectionals for honor choir and all-state workshops, and prepared the University Chorus and Collegiate Chorale for my recital which have given me some hands-on experience in rehearsing various choirs. For beginning students, I typically start them with learning the notes, staff, beats, etc. Once the student has mastered those abilities, I begin to introduce playing "by ear" as I like to call it. This process involves the student choosing the song and learning how to play it solely by listening to it and figuring out the chords.
