I have given lessons before when I was in high school. Each student works and learns at their own pace. For beginners, the basics are explored. As they grow more confident we work on more particular subjects like tone, scales, proper breathing. Practice is a must, the will not get anywhere they want to be without constant practice. I'm a licensed teacher that enjoys sharing my passion for music. In December 2016, I graduated from Lipscomb University with a Bachelor of Music degree in Instrumental Music Education. Performing as part of Cedar Creek Community Band, Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, and Orchestra Pit has given me a variety of experiences to inform my teaching. I started studying music in 1996, at the age of 9, within El Sistema of Venezuela in the Carabobo Music Conservatory. I was the principal flute at the Carabobos Youth Orchestra from age 15 to age 17. As a flutist, I have played first flute for pieces such as Ravels Daphnis et Chlo, Prokofievs Peter and the Wolf, Ravels Bolero, Hindemiths Symphonic Metamorphosis, Strauss Till Eulenspiegel and many others; as well as alto flute for Stravinskys Rite of Spring. I began teaching music in high school by leading flute sectionals in the marching band and music theory to my fellow choir members. I focused on performing during my undergraduate studies; then had the opportunity to share my musical talents in a different way when I began my music therapy career. In music therapy, I used music to address musical and non-musical goals. I have taught adaptive lessons for guitar and piano to teenagers through the senior age group. Read More

I make it a point to individualize my lesson plans for each student and cater to their unique needs. As a general starting place, however, I typically start with Trevor Wye's Beginner's Book for the Flute: Part 1 for my novice students. Additionally, I introduce the 12 major scales and arpeggios- which we continue to study and build on throughout our lessons. As the student progresses and has a firm grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their level of playing. Read More
