I have been teaching drums and percussion privately for over 20 years. I focus on the interests of his students and teach in different musical styles such as classical, jazz, rock and metal. I can prepare someone for school band, or take an advanced student to another level preparing for a career in the music business. Other than snare and drum-set I can teach Latin and African instruments, marimba, bells and various other percussion instruments.My lessons will range from learning fundamentals such as sticking techniques and rudiments, to advanced techniques such as single and double bass drumming, odd-time, and grove passed patterns. While I try to follow a mostly K12 standard structure to my private lessons at the end of the day I will be tailoring my instruction to my students wants and needs. I like to set attainable weekly goals with my students in regards to technique and style that will be implemented via exercises, scales and into our repertoire. A beginner private lesson will usually begin with wrist and finger exercises that establish technical foundation for exploring other rudiments. Secondly, teaching music notation. The four basic ways to divide the pulse and how they are notated. Third, 3 way co-ordination. Use of one foot and hands together. (Usually beginning and intermediate rock beats) Lastly, Application of all of the above to a musical situation. I started music when i was 5y-6y. Classically trained on the piano for 5 to 6 years. Self taught in music at age 7y. Formally taught in music at age 11y-17y in drums/percussion/piano, guitar, bass guitar, trumpet, and voice. Started my first 2 piece band at age 8y. Playing drums/percussion/voice and keyboards.
