I have over 17 years of experience teaching Band Choir on every level from Elementary to College . Prior to my appointment at Coppin State University, I taught High school for 14 years, Elementary and Middles school for 4 through out the state of Maryland. My spark of inspiration to teach comes from my years performing in college as part of my own band, as well as jazz ensemble and guitar ensemble. My first experience with teaching came from my first live shows with Art Wavey. As a songwriter, another duty often times overlooked is teaching the parts needed to complement the song. By explaining the theory behind the compositions in a clear, concise way, as well through direct representation through playing, I was able to convey complex ideas in a way that not only transferred to those being taught, but made it enjoyable as well. My teaching experience goes back to my high school days, where I began to teach private lessons part time ten years ago. Since then, I have been consistently been teaching students in private studios. I encourage regular practice on a consistent schedule and motivate my students on a daily basis. I am a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I have been performing music almost all of my life and teaching for about 8 years.
