Due to the fact that I teach students with drastically different age and ability levels, lessons are catered to each individual student's needs. In general, I try to structure the lesson in such a way that it can serve as a blueprint for at-home practice. We will usually start with some kind of warm-up exercise, move to technical/flexibility development, followed by repertoire and etudes. As a clarinet instructor, I always strive for bringing a wide variety of different artistic, technical and clarinet related aspects into my teachings. I find it crucial to be able to identify a certain students strengths or weaknesses. When us, teachers, do that, we are not only helping an individual student, we also expand our capacity as artists; we learn new ways to fix certain problems in ones playing. I teach a combination of Rote and verbal, conveying my ideas while playing as an example. I realized my passion for music when I was teaching forty clarinetists during a band camp. They caught on to my personality and knew I wanted the best for them. This ultimately drove them to be better musicians. I'm a motivated instructor of both clarinet and saxophone. I have been teaching full time for the past 22 years working with different schools and studios. I currently teach both saxophone and clarinet in a nearby public school during the day. Students have the option of taking lessons during the school day instead of after school. I enjoy playing in area ensembles and have worked with the Cleveland Youth Wind Symphony as a woodwind coach for the past 6 years, I hold both a bachelor of music education and early childhood degrees.
