I have been teaching private lessons for five years now to students aged 8-18. I have also taught general music classes to 3 month-two year olds in an early childhood music class. My students have excelled through solos, ensembles, festivals, etc. I believe in consistency of instruction and positive reinforcement and criticism. I best serve my students by being adaptable to all of their needs. I am currently working with a student that has william's syndrome and we have a blast together. Read More

For beginner clarinetists, we will begin working out of the Voxman/Gower Beginner Method Book. We will spend the majority of the first lessons learning posture, holding the instrument, proper embouchure, blowing into the clarinet, breathing techniques, articulation, and how to develop sound through long tones and exercises. During the process, basics of music reading and music theory will be taught. For intermediate to Advanced students, we will learn all scales and arpeggios using the Klose Method book. Read More

The next "T" stands for transcriptions, where I assign a student songs or solos that they will transcribe by ear in order to strengthen ear training and make them critically listen to the style they're trying to emulate. For example, I might assign a beginner jazz student the easy Johnny Hodges solo on "Big Shoe." Last but not least, the final "T" stands for tunes. Students will learn specific songs or solos with the goal of performing these songs. Read More
