Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. My teaching experience began in 2008, when I began teaching private lessons on various instruments, on voice, and on conducting. I later went on to teach band and choir at Cedar Bluff High School in 2011. After this, I volunteered as the band director at Valley Head High School in 2014. I like to think I'm a laid-back kind of guy, though I can get loud and boisterous sometimes when a student figures something hard out. I wonder sometimes if I don't get more excited about a student's breakthrough than he does! My wife sometimes tells me I have no "indoor voice," lol. I don't give grades (except for my college students, because I have to), but if I did, the grade would be either "A" or "I," as in incomplete, as in do it over until it's great. Read More

The Rubank Method offers some solos, but in addition, for the High School student I teach them the Weber Concertino, Mozart Concerto- first movement, Brahms Second Sonata for the advanced High School and College student. Lesson plans for the advanced High School student include scales, major and minor, Rose Etudes and solos.
