I have enjoyed teaching since High School, when I traveled to teach students by bus. Later I traveled by car to homes to teach, but have only taught in my studio for over 20 years. For beginner students I focus on the fundamentals; developing a sound and technique to allow them to be creative. I mix in ear-training with all of my students through different ways of connecting them to the music. I allow for all of my students to express their creativity through improvisation and all students are encouraged to reach creatively. Every new student comes to their first lesson with particular skills and musical interests. My job is to assess the students abilities and lead them down the appropriate paths to achieving their musical goals.
