I prepare beginners to think of the “geography” of the cello as he did, encouraging them to learn the entire range of the instrument from the start instead of restricting them. My guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, and drum students will start in the Hal Leonard's books as well if they are unsure of a specific genre or style they wish to play. If they already know what genre they'd like to specialize in, they will be given a curated coursework to help them build the skills they need to master whatever they wish to Jam out on! I am originally from upstate New York and earned both my BM and MME at SUNY Fredonia. I have been teaching private and small group lessons for over twenty years.
