Overview:
I am a performer, & teacher. My goals are to give my students the education I received at the foot of my teachers. I see it as a mission to invite people of many backgrounds to learn and enjoy bowed stringed instruments. I attended Valdosta State University where i found myself to be the only bass student for 2 years. It was this that gave me the" grit" needed to survive in the constantly evolving music industry. I have performed a plethora of works, styles, and even been able to perform world premiers of works never before heard on the world stage. What I have gain I hope to pass on to others.
EXPERIENCE
I began giving lessons in my 2nd semester in college. I have been able to meet people from all walks of life and given lessons to students from ages 3 to 68. I read a great amount of classical literature and study allot of history; I say this to acknowledge the fact that I don't only teach proficiency in the music discipline. I do this to feed the mind a series of intellectual thought that will help the student to question and meditate on new ideas. My approach is an honest one that balances the positive future with realistic outcome. It is this knowledge that I believe assists to keep a clear mind in decision making and an honest expectation.
METHODS USED
I am not a method Nazi. I teach what the student needs. If i am teaching a student bass, but they need the agility of a cellist, then I find material suitable to gain that outcome. However, I do understand that students and parents need track-able goals to perceive progress. I am always happy to discuss what method may be best used after I have observed the students aptitude and desired outcome. When doing this it is important for the student to clear about what they expect to learn. It also gives me the ability to teach flexibility.
LESSON STYLE
My philosophy on teaching covers many bases. I teach so that the student may succeed. It does not bother me if a student desires to achieve some other goal than becoming a professional musician. When I taught public school my students had varying dreams for their future. It became clear that they needed me to inspire them and assist them in building confidence. To that end I help students get out of their own way to gain self discipline and drive. With discipline even the small number can prevail, and with drive even the meekest person can rise to the occasion.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
