Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. I love setting lofty, reasonably challenging goals for my students and giving them music they think is too hard to play, and then watching their faces light up when they hit all the right notes they didn't know were possible to hit. Music is then customized to incorporate their current skill levels with the challenges that bring them into the next. All instruments, including voice, learn the Major and minor scales with other scales being reserved for more advanced students. Repertoire will be centered around the scales the student is currently learning. Depending upon the students goals I like to take the approach of introducing harmony at a point in which that student is proficient on the open chords of the guitar and scales in the first position. If the student chooses to learn classical guitar I would begin with basic exercises in reading and playing from Frederick M Noad's Solo Guitar Paying. If the student prefers to learn some other style or genre, then I would begin to help the student choose and study music that presents an appropriate challenge and an opportunity for the student to build his/her repertoire.
