I typically will start each student with preliminary lesson that allows me a chance to assess the student's current level, and knowledge base. This preliminary lesson also gives me a chance to do what I call a "method book fitting" this allows me to assess how compatible different method books are with my students personality and learning style. I myself am a music student on my way to study at University of Alabama for a Bachelor's in Music Education. I have been privately instructing students of all ages for a full three years, starting when I was fifteen. I never turn down an opportunity to perform, and have played in multiple orchestras, symphonic bands, jazz bands, and marching bands. I believe in letting the students learn the best way they can and how ever they feel more comfortable learning. Later I will teach more advanced theory for intermediate students and start showing them how to put the knowledge together. For advanced students we will start transposing between different keys and scales and mixing scales together and eventually be able to circle through the circle of fifths the best we can.
